Choosing the power of the intraocular lens is based on testing and calculations. Nothing is ever 100% in choosing your desired lens even a customized lens. Intraoperative aberrometry allows an additional measurement to increase your likelihood of reaching your desired outcome. When your cataract is removed, the surgeon can take an additional measurement at the time of surgery to obtain more information to find the best power of lens to fit your vision needs.
The ORA System™ uses Wavefront technology to analyze many possible imperfections of the way light passes through the eye to the retina. ORA can tell if the eye is in focus at the time of surgery, and if it is not, the ORA System™ helps the surgeon focus the eye.
